Hoop Dance, a Bauhaus dance, was created in 1928 for the Bauhaus stage repertoire. It is one of a series of Bauhaus dances that Oskar Schlemmer called Material Dances. In each of the numbers a certain material and its scenic possibilities were in the foreground. The Hoop Dance shows how dancing actions and the design of the room can be gained from a certain material and the variations of form which can be derived from it using simple wooden hoops.
